Joel 2:12-17 and Prayer
Joel 2:12-17
12 "Yet even now," declares the LORD,
"Return to Me with all your heart,
And with fasting, weeping and mourning;
13 And rend your heart and not your garments "
Now return to the LORD your God,
For He is gracious and compassionate,
Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness
And relenting of evil.
14 Who knows whether He will not turn and relent
And leave a blessing behind Him,
Even a grain offering and a drink offering
For the LORD your God?
15 Blow a trumpet in Zion,
Consecrate a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly,
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation,
Assemble the elders,
Gather the children and the nursing infants
Let the bridegroom come out of his room
And the bride out of her bridal chamber.
17 Let the priests, the LORD’S ministers,
Weep between the porch and the altar,
And let them say, "Spare Your people, O LORD,
And do not make Your inheritance a reproach,
A byword among the nations
Why should they among the peoples say,
’Where is their God?’"
Where are the mourners?
Where are the weepers?
Where are those who’s heart breaks for today’s Church?
Where are the sober minded?
Where are the eternity focused?
Where are those who don’t have time to watch TV or play sports or surf the internet?
Where are the prayers?!?!?!?
Where are the petitions?!?!?!?
Where are those who battle through the night on their knees for the people of God?
I will ask again,
Where are the prayers?
Where are the prayers?
Where are the prayers?
And people don’t understand prayer.
How do you expect your prayers to move God if they don’t even move you?
Do you pray with
tears?
Do you pray with shouts?
Do you pray with groans?
Do you pray with
desire?
Do you pray with desperation?
Do you pray with discontentment?
And you can’t cheat God.
First you declare you despise Him then you ask Him for more blessings.
If you live a life of lust and pride your prayers will only be worth a grain of salt.
It’s the life behind the prayer that give the prayer power.
Also, some people say you don’t need to pray for a long time. Just pray continuously throughout the day.
That’s bunkem.
You can’t pray throughout the day without also spending a great deal of time alone with the Lord.
Every man of God is a man of prayer.
Elijah was a man of prayer.
Moses was a man of prayer.
David was a man of prayer.
Paul was a man of prayer.
Daniel was a man of prayer.
Isaiah was a man of prayer.
Jeremiah was a man of prayer.
Ezekiel was a man of prayer.
Samuel was a man of prayer.
Enoch was a man of prayer.
Solomomn was a man of prayer
James was a man of prayer.
Jesus was a man of prayer.
Show me a man of God who isn’t a man of prayer
And I’ll show you a liar.
